Hoop ScrabbleThis is the physical fitness version of scrabble. I put a bunch of index cards with a letter on one side and fitness activity on the other. 4 or 5 teams are created and given a hula hoop to mark off their team base. One student from each team goes into the middle at a time and grabs an index card. They use the first card they pick up and flip it over to the activity listed. They have to complete the activity before they bring the card back to their group. I have designated before the game how many letters I want the word to be. The team that brings back enough letters to make a word the fastest is the winners. Sometimes I flip the cards over so they can only see the activities and not the letters. I increase the amount of letters for the word depending on the grade I am teaching.
Ducks in a PondThe students are split into two teams and put on different ends of the basketball court. There are 4 bowling pins lined up on the circle line located inside of the basketball lane. The students are not allowed to step foot inside of the basketball lane or in the upper half of the circle. The students’ goal is to knock down the 4 pins on the other side of the gym with the various balls in play during the game. The students are not trying to hit one another.

One StepThis game is good practice for throwing and catching. The students partner up and are in close to each other to begin with. If the student catches the ball from their partner they take one step back. This continues until they drop a ball or make an unsuccessful throw, and then they go back to the beginning.
Pass OverPass Over is game that involves the students passing a ball around the circle as fast as they can. They are playing against another team in this game. The students have to pass the ball to the second person away from them in the circle, so the teams are made up of every other student in the class.
Parachute GamesI have a variety of games that I do with the Parachute. I can incorporate many of my circle games with the parachute. We also go underneath the parachute and can play games while it has air trapped underneath. I will also bring out some light balls to put on top of it that the kids can pop up on the parachute.
